I believe in the inherent individuality and uniqueness of each person and that it is to be greatly valued. Often things happen in a person's life that make them feel less than whole and unable to cope with life's many struggles. I believe that great strength can be gained in being in the presence of someone who attempts to provide a non-judgemental environment. As a counsellor I do not pretend to know the answers; what I hope to be able to do is to provide a safe place in which my clients can feel able to explore any issues or difficulties they are faced with.

There are many different approaches to counselling but the one I use is usually termed "person-centred". This respects the client's ability to manage their own growth and development given the appropriate facilitative conditions. I will, therefore, not offer you advice but will attempt to provide you with a "safe" space to explore your difficulties, thereby enabling understanding. I believe that with understanding of those difficulties comes the potential for change.

I will offer an initial session in which to meet you and assess whether my approach to counselling feels appropriate for your needs. If you then wish to enter into a counselling relationship with me we can then arrange to meet each other on a regular basis, usually weekly and of fifty minutes duration.
